An independent guide to mortgages from Canada’s big banks, rebuilt in October 2026 as part of the MITEY Network.
What changed
Earlier versions of this site advertised special-access bank rates, named the big banks as partners with status badges, and showed approval counts and savings figures. We could not verify any of those, so we removed them. BankMortgages.ca has no partnership with, and is not endorsed by, RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC or National Bank.
What we do instead
- Read each big bank’s own mortgage pages and quote the terms that matter (prepayment, penalty method, portability, HELOC and renewal), with a link and a date.
- Explain the federal rules (the stress test, insured mortgages and disclosure) from OSFI, the Department of Finance, CMHC, FCAC and Justice Laws.
- Build calculators that let you price your own situation rather than trust an average.
Who is Mitey?
Mitey the Yeti is the MITEY Network’s guide. On this site his job is to read the fine print out loud. He carries a brass stamp because the clauses most people skip are the ones that cost the most.

How we make money
If you ask a question through the site, the MITEY Network team may help you compare options and introduce you to a licensed mortgage professional, which may lead to a referral fee. That never changes what a bank profile says: profiles quote the banks’ own pages.
